THE SANDMAN: THE DREAM HUNTERS What better way to start the new year with an alternative reading, and if alternative author speak, There is one whose narrative was idyllic to be considered a kind of modern minstrel comic, I mean the famous Richard Neil Gaiman.
Gaiman, who has always stood for moving smoothly in the field of fantasy Sandman found the perfect light exposure, therefore, Morpheus, is the king of dreams, and what they do best rather than the fantasies? in dreams.
One of the works that I like Gaiman, is ironically one that is not the original, but that is an adaptation of an old Asian legend, Dream Hunters, hunters of dreams. It says that Gaiman will marvel at the resemblance of its Sandman with the King of Dreams that appeared in history, so when given the opportunity, the present adapted to the volume of the 10th. anniversary of The Sandman Dream Hunters
is set in a feudal Japan and tells the adventure of a bitch and her love for a young and peaceful monk. It all begins with a bet between two animals, a badger and a fox (in Japanese culture these animals have special abilities and spiritual), they wanted to scare off a young monk who lived alone in a temple, so that they occupy their home, who achieved stayed out of the temple. The badger was the first to try, afraid and trying to trick the monk discovered the cunning animal and fled. The next day, monk met a young woman shot in the rain, which stayed at the temple, she told a story of bandits who were nearby, but the young insightful notice the deception of everything and then the girl was transformed into a white fox which escaped. The next day, the fear badger attempt to invade the monk again but this, finds out and runs, soon after visited by the same girl as last time, which he apologizes, he tells her of the bet with the badger, and let her live there.
Shortly after listening to the conversation between fox demons, who planned to kill the monk, as Onmyoji, Ying yang master had an intertwined destiny where the young monk for one of the two lived on the other had to die. The fox who in his role as woman was in love with the monk, decides to help, so you will have to become a real hunter of dreams, since the plan was to kill the monk on the grounds of King's Dream Every Night , who is not another, that our dear Morpheus.
This piece of art is beautifully illustrated by Yoshitaka Amano, who with his strokes gives life to scenes that are brilliantly told through paragraphs of this story, making a perfect combination of written and visual narrative.
